Virtus Data Centres has increased the global network connectivity available to its data centre tenants as result of a new Point of Presence (PoP) established by Level 3 Communications, Inc., a premier international provider of fibre-based communications services, at Virtus’ London (LON1) data centre, providing direct access to its optical fibre core networking infrastructure.
Level 3 operates a global Internet backbone, providing transport, data, voice, Internet, content and media delivery services to enterprise, wholesale and content customers. The PoP at Virtus Data Centres’ LON1 facility will allow Virtus data centre tenants to access Level 3’s expansive network reach to support their end users’ growing demands for direct access to high-bandwidth data, as their end users become more global.
James Heard, Level 3’s regional president of EMEA, comments: “Enterprise customers depend on having a robust and secure connection to a growing number of markets around the world, while ensuring reliable access to their critical data, and by connecting to Level 3’s global network, Virtus customers now have that connection. We look forward to serving their needs and helping them reach new markets.”
Warren Barrie, UK MD of Virtus, comments:
“As users look to utilise bandwidth-heavy applications, this translates into continued demand for data services across the UK, and indeed the world. The extended presence of Level 3’s network at our state-of-the-art facility enables our customers to meet these growing demands and offers them additional global peering and connectivity options.”
Virtus’ customers in the UK will be able to enjoy additional connectivity options through Level 3’s network across key global markets, reaching 45 countries around the world. For more information on Level 3’s network, visit www.level3.com
