Cordys and Aquima partner to deliver cloud-enabled business rules and decision management

Partnership enables Dutch Ministry of Defence to streamline application portfolio.

Date: 12 Oct 2012

Cordys and Aquima have entered into a strategic partnership deliver cloud-enabled business rules and decision management.

Combining Integration, Business Process Management, and high productivity application development, the Cordys enterprise cloud platform is used by enterprises to achieve more agile business leveraging the cloud and enables service providers to differentiate their cloud services. Aquima has a best of breed business rules engine with a unified model for multiple rule types, reducing IT costs and providing business agility. The business rules engine supports development of dynamic web applications and business processes.

The integrated solution will enhance Cordys' existing BPM and PaaS solutions to support knowledge intensive domains for  the public sector, financial services, energy & utilities and manufacturing & logistics. Under this partnership Aquima’s leading-edge business rules engine will be offered as a fully integrated add-on component for the Cordys Business Operations Platform (BOP). It will also provide Aquima's customers with advanced cloud features. The unique design of the Cordys platform allows customers to consume the solution as a cloud service, run it on premise or in a hybrid fashion with limitless flexibility.

One of the first customers to benefit from the combination of Cordys and Aquima is the Dutch Ministry of Defence. The ministry is using the joint solution to streamline its portfolio of over 3.000 applications. Each application supported only a small part of a process and the Ministry of Defence wanted a single platform that could support complete processes to reduce complexity and maintenance costs.

Jan van Es, Head of Information Management and Architecture at the Dutch Ministry of Defence, commented: “The collaboration between Cordys and Aquima turned out to be exactly what we needed. We were struggling with the complexity of a heterogeneous landscape of applications and we needed to connect together several functions including HR, logistics and finance. We now make use of a unified and integrated IT system that is completely connected to our existing IT solutions. The alliance between Cordys and Aquima combines the best of both worlds: strong business rules capabilities and a very powerful platform for integration and Business Process Management.”

Scott Mullarkey, VP World Wide Partners & Alliances at Cordys, added: “The Aquima business rules engine that we use to complement our Business Operations Platform is easily able to capture knowledge and represent this in rules. Combined with our integrated cloud platform, this provides one of the most versatile solutions in the market. With the Aquima rules based integration of dialogues, the dynamic rules are also leveraged in the Cordys platform. This will result in lower operations costs and a reduced cost of change because a lot of manual process handling will be removed.”

“The partnership is important for both parties,” said Hans de Preter, Sales Manager at Aquima. “We would like to leverage the potential of the cloud and link this to our international expansion strategy. The Cordys platform allows us to do this seamlessly. In addition, Cordys now enhances their handling of business rules by adding more intelligence and logic. The rule-driven processes provide a sound foundation for flexibility and can quickly implement regulatory changes in a controlled manner.”
