There’s an App for secure remote support

Netop has announced the release of Netop Remote Control Mobile for iOS, available as a free app through Apple’s App Store, which allows key support staff and system administrators to extend their reach within the enterprise.

Date: 26 Jul 2012

The app provides support teams with real-time screen transfer and control over the keyboard and mouse of any machine running a compatible version of the Netop Remote Control host on Windows desktop and server operating systems. This offering comes at a time when workforce mobility has become a significant and increasing trend.

“We don’t get to pick the time when something goes wrong,” said Steven Capper, IT director at Skanska. “The ability to solve technical issues remotely using an iPhone or iPad from wherever a person may be transforms every member of my support team into a more flexible and effective company asset. The speed and quality of our service should be greatly enhanced with this new app.”

Features of Note
Netop Remote Control Mobile boasts a simple interface that has been designed to encourage easy connectivity in order to reach the target machine or user as swiftly as possible. Support team members can connect directly by simply entering the IP address or computer name of the target machine and have the connection information saved for future use.

The app also offers a superior user experience, providing a support team member using a tablet computer the same control and flexibility they would expect from a remote support app running on a traditional computer. The support team member can use the same instinctive controls used for other apps, with quick access to the on-screen keyboard as well as custom shortcut key combinations for access to common functions essential to a remote support session.

The Netop Remote Control Mobile guest also offers support personnel the ability to establish remote support sessions securely across their enterprise using TCP connections. With strong 256-bit AES encryption, organisations are ensured that transmitted data is not compromised, regardless of the connection type used by the iOS device.

“The enterprise workforce is becoming increasingly mobile and employers demand solutions to keep their networks and devices safe and operating smoothly on the go,” said Kurt Bager, CEO, Netop. “Netop Remote Control Mobile for iOS offers IT departments a platform for fast and effective screen transfer on the go, along with the intuitive controls and security that our users expect. This app offers ease-of-use as well as the kind of heavy-duty encryption we’re known for. This latest offering further demonstrates our commitment to a seamless support experience no matter the device used to provide it.”

Netop brings 25 years of remote support solutions to enterprise customers in a wide array of industries. The company continues to update and expand its offerings to meet the complex technology needs of these customers.
