InTechnology unveils next generation data centre

New Reading-based energy efficient data centre offers alternative to London hosting.

Date: 16 Jun 2011

InTechnology has announced plans to open a brand new, next generation data centre in Reading early next year. The new facility will boast energy-efficient technology and equipment and provide reliable, secure and affordable hosting outside London.

InTechnology chose Reading as the location for its newest data centre to offer organisations an alternative to hosting their data in London, away from the capital’s higher risk of power outages and terrorists threats.

Like InTechnology’s London and Harrogate data centres, its newest secure hosting facility will be embedded in the organisation’s highly resilient, nationwide MPLS network.

Stefan Haase, divisional product director, data cloud services at InTechnology said: “As more businesses become aware of the increasingly challenging power situation in London coupled with the terrorist risk, they are looking for alternative locations in the UK in which to store their mission-critical data. This newest addition to our expanding data centre footprint offers next generation technology and multi-layered, around-the-clock security.

“As part of our on-going commitment to providing a best-in class infrastructure, we have responded to customer demand and created a flexible, energy-efficient environment that can support any business that has a growing demand for space, energy and power.”

As with all its data centres, InTechnology can tailor suites in the Reading facility specifically to meet their customers requirements; other suites are preconfigured for immediate availability. Access is by proximity photo ID cards and all suites are monitored by CCTV. Security upgrades from chip-and-pin entry to eye scanners and remote access control are also available.

Other features of InTechnology’s colocation suites in Reading include:

• Ultra-efficient free air and cold aisle cooling
• 24/7/365 manned support and monitoring
• Connection to a number of major carriers
• N+1 specification
• Standard 16 amps per rack
• Up to 3 MW power
• Engineered for concurrent maintenance – tier 3 guidelines
