After its successful launch in 2009, the Datacenter Technologies conference in 2010 will focus on converged networks, virtualization from the desktop to the server and storage, and of course cloud computing and services. Co-located with SNW Europe and Virtualization World, attendees will have unbridled access to over 60 leading IT vendors including our platinum sponsors Dell, EMC, Fujitsu, HP, Huawei Symantec, IBM, Oracle and Symantec.
The cornerstone of the conference is the SNIA tutorial program. Developed by members of the association, these educational sessions promise a vendor-independent view of the latest trends and standards being promoted and deployed across the globe. Here are a couple of examples of the SNIA sessions you can attend:
Data Center Transformation
The data center of the future is possible today for IT environments that are willing to create an architecture that leverages technology where appropriate. This session is designed for storage administrators and storage architects. This session will explore the business and technology changes necessary to transform existing data centers into efficient, service oriented operations that leverage existing infrastructure. All too often, new technology is sold as the solution. We will look beyond the vendor hype to help you choose the operational models and technologies best suited for your environment.
Active Archive: Data Protection for the Modern Data Center
Backup has long been thought of as the key technology for data protection. However, in today’s modern data centers, the fastest moving and most fundamental changes in data protection are actually in archive. Today’s archive solutions enable affordable, near-line, long-term data retention. Case studies will be presented to illustrate how active archives are being utilized in healthcare, broadcast, finance, education and oil/gas environments to have affordable, power efficient, near-line access to their entire data archive. Join us to learn about both the software applications that can now manage data archives to enable online search and access to the entire archive; and, learn about the storage platforms that are designed to support the needs of the archive. This session will also focus on developments in tape-based storage platforms that have made them accessible through a file system interface and the preferred storage medium for archive.
Cloud Computing and Services
For any data center professional today the subject of cloud computing and services is never far from the top of any list and the line up of speakers and topics on the subject is one not to be missed.
